Rebuilding Nest for Orphaned Cottontail Rabbit (part I)

I talked to a wildlife rabbit expert and she stated that I should rebuild the nest and then cover it with a cage and weights so our dogs won’t bother it during the day. She said that the mother will come and feed the baby rabbit at night. To validate she does this she stated I should create a four by four grid over the top of the nest with small sticks . In the morning if the sticks are moved I will know that the mother came to visit the nest.
