Our Rescue Bunny Rabbit 8 year old "Baby" First time in his new home – Carly's Mini Lops – Cute

19th August 2017…. Thanks for watching!
Meet our new bunny rabbit rescue, Baby. Baby is an 8 year old buck who has been neutered. He had one previous owner before we rescued him from the RSPCA, who had to give him to the RSPCA due to them emigrating. They seem to have taken good care of Baby.
We had to wait quite a while for Baby as when we had seen him at the rescue centre he wasn’t yet ready for rehoming. So, we had to call daily to check when he’d be ready and its safe to say I was a pain in the bum! ha. We just clicked with baby immediately, we stroked and fed him and he just felt like he needed to be our baby. So, obviously we eventually got approved and you can see in the pics/video us picking Baby up and taking him home. This is him exploring his new home for the first time. I would always advise when you chose your new bunny to go with your heart, chose the bunny who makes you laugh, comes to you, the one who picks you basically hehe.
When we first picked up Baby we were told by the RSPCA that he was a grumpy rabbit who didn’t like to be held and he would growl. They said he was very shy. It was clear from all that was written about Baby and the loving gentle amazing bunny we know now that Baby found the whole move extremely stressful and frightening. Baby has never once acted untoward to me or the children. Don’t get me wrong he was very shy at first but a quick few of my tricks and he soon warmed to me. We love Baby.
October 2017…
Baby had a bit of an incident in October (he got trapped and thank god we eventually found him! He almost died!!). I nursed Baby back to health and thank all that’s good he came through and has made a full recovery. It was very traumatic for him and us. A silly mistake that I will NEVER make again. But he’s back to health now. I was feeding Baby with a syringe and he slept in my bedroom for weeks so Baby and I are extremely close now. I love that bunny, he scared me to death!! He is still living in the house now (not my bedroom tho you’ll be pleased to hear haha) even though he is fine. It is winter here and Baby lost his winter coat because I have the heating on so I cant put him back outside until March time (basically when I haven’t got the heating on constantly). He’s ok in the house. He likes the constant attention from the kids and I but he absolutely REFUSES to walk on the hard floor (because its slippy!). He hates it!! So, although he could have the full roam of the house he doesn’t as he sticks to his area with his towel. LOL! I will put him back outside because I think he prefers it bless him.
He was a very fussy bunny with food and the RSPCA said he would refuse point blank to eat pellets but would only eat that awful food with peas in. I soon put an end to that! he wouldn’t eat hay either at first but now he loves it. I have a feeling that with his last owners the only thing he ate was his mixed rabbit food and that’s it. FYI in case you wondered, I cured his bad eating habbits by simply putting him in with a little baby girl rabbit for a few months. He soon started eating everything to out-eat her! haha! He’s not with her now as I felt they didn’t bond and she was too young etc. It was just to try to bring him out of his shell food wise and to bring him out of his pen area (but that didn’t work!). Still looking for a partner for him. Wish me luck xxxx
