We found a lost kitten stuck down the side of our house. The mother had taken only four of the five she just gave birth to. Our baby rabbit Bucket (one month old) is now playing mother to it. He seems quite happy in the role despite having his body foraged for milk. He has a garden to roam free in but he chooses to stay close. And you can see how much comfort Runt gets from the relationship. They sleep lying on top of each other.
To give you an idea of their size – that isn’t a plate in the picture, it is the smallest saucer we could find. Bucket fits very easily in the palm of my hand.
