Sam, the hybrid pet raven, is an opportunistic, omnivorous carnivore. As part of his diet, he gets raw meat, whether that’s a mix of ground meats, chicken hearts and livers, or a mouse, or a bunny, or something else I got my hands on. Sam LOVES baby bunnies.
I have a friend who is getting into breeding rabbits, Hotntots and meat rabbits are her current focus, so non-meat rabbits in the wrong color get culled. But also, because she’s just getting started, she has a lot of first time moms and first time bunny moms aren’t always the best mothers. It also doesn’t help when we have sudden cold nights that kill them.
Anyways… yeah. Ravens are messy eaters. I ended the video before he started draping intestines over the perch.
Sam is a hybrid raven, half common raven (Corvus corax) and half white-necked (Corvus Albicollis). He is not and never was a wild bird. He is legal as a pet. Releasing him would be a death sentence because he has survival skills. He would be a non-native in our environment.
