10 Shockingly Large Animals That Actually Exist

10 Shockingly Large Animals That Actually Exist

Animals come in all shapes and sizes, some extremely tiny while others are incredibly enormous. Today,
we will look at the latter and talk about 10 extremely large animals that actually exist. Do you want to
know what will happen to you if you don’t stop eating too much? Wait till number one.

Number 10. Freddy the Great Dane
Freddy the great dane is currently the world’s tallest dog, and he’s even received a Guinness World
Records certificate to seal the deal.
Claire Stoneman, Freddy’s owner, always knew that Freddy was going to be taller than other Great
Danes, but she had no idea that he would end up growing to be the tallest dog in the world! And like all
pet moms, she’s incredibly proud of Freddy and loves him so much, happily accommodating his large
stature.
Since he’s an astonishing 7 feet and 6 inches, Claire knows that Freddy could easily – but without
meaning to – frighten the other dogs in her neighborhood. And that is why she makes the sacrifice to
take Freddy for his walks very, very early in the morning when no one else is up.
But as large as he is, Freddy is actually a gentle giant who loves napping and chewing on the couch, plus
snacking on his favorite dog-food. Freddy is also a devoted brother to his sister, Fleur. Claire often posts
photos and videos of the brother and sister duo on their dedicated Instagram page.

Number 9. Hercules the Liger
Everybody knows that ligers – crosses between lions and tigers – are quite large animals. In fact, they
grow far larger than their respective parents. But when it comes to size, one liger is head and shoulders
above the rest.
Hercules the liger is residing at Myrtle Beach Safari South Carolina. Myrtle Beach Safari is also a native
home for Hercules, as Hercules the liger was born at the same place. Hercules the Liger is biggest of all
the ligers in the world.
When last measured during 2013, Hercules the Liger weighed around 922 Pounds. This is the maximum
weight witnessed for any healthy and non-obese liger. This further means that ligers before have been
seen weighing more than 1000 pounds, but all those ligers have been declared obese. So Hercules is
fittest among all the ligers. At the time of birth, he weighed around 4 to 5 pounds. Hercules gained the
weight of 900 pounds during the first 3 years of its life which is equal to a gain an almost of 1 pound per
day.

Number 8. Goldie the Giant Goldfish

When we talk about goldfish, we pretty much think about tiny golden fish, reportedly with one minute
memories, swimming around in a fish bowl. They are always never in the conversation when the biggest
are being talked about. But, there are giants among them.
The title of largest pet goldfish goes to Goldie from Folkestone in Kent, England, who was 15 inches long,
5 inches wide, and weighed over 2 lbs in 2008. The fish was only an inch long when Goldie's owner
bought it for 99 cents, and 15 years later it had ballooned into a record-breaking size, despite being kept
in a small tank.
However, Goldie isn't the only supersized goldfish. In July 2010, a goldfish measuring 16 inches and
weighing 5 pounds was caught in Poole's Lake by Nick Richards, 16, from Camberley, England. But the
world's longest goldfish is owned by Joris Gijsbers and measured 18.7 inches from snout to tail on March
24, 2003 in Hapert, The Netherlands.

Number 7. Darius and Jeff the Rabbit
Darius the rabbit is currently the world’s largest rabbit and has held that title since 2012. He currently
measures 4ft 4in and weighs 45 lbs. But while he certainly tips the scales and is deserving of his title, hot
on his bunny paws is his son Jeff, currently measuring 3ft 8in but still with six months of growing yet to
do.
Owner Annette Edwards expects the smaller bunny to eventually outgrow his dad. The pet rabbits are
members of the Continental Giant breed. Once bred for their meat, these giant rabbits are now
promoted as great house pets. Instead of the usual rabbit hutches, Darius and Jeff sleep in large dog
crates. If you want to get one of these rabbits, be warned…they eat a LOT of food. Annette spends
$5000 per year on 2,000 carrots, 700 apples and their special rabbit food.
By the way, Annette is a breeder of continental rabbits and Darius is her fourth world record holder.
