Please celebrate Harvey with me. He would be 8 in May which is honestly ancient for a giant bunny.
I adopted him in December 2022 to go with my other house bunny Buffy after I lost my previous giant continental.
He has been such a wonderful rabbit but has been living with a severely infected rear leg since Nov 2024! We have tried countless antibiotics, an operation and sadly his mobility has just continued to decline. It has come to a point he is clearly very uncomfortable, despite being on 3 types of pain medication. After 2 visits with my vet last month, who gently spoke to me about assessing his quality of life, I can see he really doesn't have much any more. We also lost Buffy last year, I chose to keep him solo due to his health but he has been so strong and lasted much longer than I imagined. He really has been through a lot and deserves to be pain free and in peace.
I am thankful to be in a position that I am having him cross the rainbow bridge at home in our garden, hopefully in the sunshine.
This is made harder by the fact I am losing my last bunny. After dealing with 3 (soon to be 4) pet losses in the last few years, my heart needs a break.
Thank you for being the best boy Harvey it has been an honour 🖤
Please feel free to post your buns and a little about them, whether they are still with us or will be waiting for Harvey over the rainbow bridge Tuesday 🌈
