Hello! This is Lucy, she is about a year and a half and I adopted her Feb 2026. She has completely stolen my heart and I love her more than anything! She’s my little side kick!!
Here’s where I need guidance, when I got her in Feb I planned on adopting her and another bunny. But it didn’t work out the other bunny was immediately aggressive towards Lucy, kicking, pulling out hair, etc. my husband and I didn’t know until later that they were both just spayed a couple days prior. We decided to leave with Lucy only and try finding her a friend that could be a better fit once hormones relaxed.
A little back ground, before us, Lucy was with other buns but she ended up being the one they all bullied and the owners had to give her up for her safety, is my understanding. Now I might have found her a husbun, Paul, and was talking with my husband and we decided we were going to move forward. But I’m starting to panic, I love her to death and I love being with her all the time, she is with me all day while I work (free roams) and it just me and her, she always at my feet and following me around. Giving me kisses. She really is the perfect bun, digs in her designated areas, chews her toys not my walls. Now I’m thinking what if I ruin a great thing. But I worry about future vacations. What if Paul is a terror bunny haha What if he picks on Lucy and she is just going through all this stress again- this is the first stable environment she’s been in and she finally feels safe.
Can I keep things the way they are? Or Am I doing the right thing by trying to find her friend? Or am I being selfish that I don’t want to ruin what we have and it’s best to get her a friend. Please any guidance on what to do is greatly appreciated. I’m really stressing over this and what the right thing to do is. Thanks so much!
