Hi everyone. I love my bun, I really do, but like most buns she doesn't like being held. I need an animal to be a lap animal. I need a hunk of fat that loves to be pet and on my lap but also gets along well with a free roam bunny. I'm imagining a cat but I'd like to know what you all have in mind as well as techniques for getting the two to be good together. Thanks!

bigger bunny
Find a cuddly bunny that will bond with your bunny. I’ve had lap bunnies in the past my current ones are not. Only one is cuddly but not a lap bunny that flop on me and sleep next to me.
I’ve owned 5 lap bunnies out of 10 bunnies. I miss them a lot and one of them was rehomed a few years ago because she was becoming aggressive while bullying one of my other bunnies. She was depressed missing her best friend that passed away. She lives with a family that had a male that was love at first sight.
Get a big bunny, these tend to be cuddlier than the miniature ones.
Pfft.. my bunny wants pets ALL THE DAMN TIME!! !
My bun is a cuddle animal
[Edit: I misspelled “my” writing “by”]
Please don’t get a cat if you have a bunny. That can end catastrophically even with the best intentions and precautions. Cats are predator animals. 🙁
The bun will be cuddly, you just need to break her

**JOKES ASIDE,** the best you can do is *maybe* adopt a bunny that’s 2 times bigger than the bun you have right now. That way your bun has a big brother/sister to play with AND you have a bunny you can cuddle with.
**CATS ARE A RISK.** The relationship *can* work, but you gotta get really lucky that the cat doesn’t consider your bunny as a prey animal.
Please contact your local rabbit rescue for options if you want another bun, and bonding help/tips. If your bun hasn’t been desexed, that will have to be done, and you’ll have to wait at least a couple months AND de-scent the house as best you can. Use an enzymatic odor neutralizer like Zep Odor Control or Freshen on floors, furniture, and all laundry. My current bonded fosters for tax.

no cats! bigger bun!
I suggest a giant bun, or at least a REW standard bun. They are big & usually friendly. Adopt from a shelter if you can.
Get a stuffed animal.
Seriously though, animals are their own unique individuals and you shouldn’t be making the decision to keep a living thing on the basis you ‘need’ something to cuddle. Stuffed animals are great for that. Dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, etc are all as likely to want to be cuddled as your current rabbit, it all depends on the individual.
Definitely dont suggest a cat and a bunny in the same home. Thats like putting a mouse in a snake habit. Its only a matter of time.
The ‘foster to adopt’ program that most shelters have is amazing for finding an animal that matches your lifestyle and needs without committing. Even if you choose not to adopt that particular animal, you have them a much needed break from the shelter. If I were you, I’d adopt a very lazy pittie. Most of them are couch potatoes. Mine is mixed with ACD, so she’s a crackhead, but she’s amazing with the bunnies and our cat and our horses. Seriously, whether you’re considering a cat or dog (and they may even have some more cuddly bunnies since it’s after Easter and people are getting rid of their impulse bunnies), that foster to adopt program is SO helpful. Plus, you can test their temperament around your bun before you choose to adopt. Introduce through a barrier like a gate or crate at first for safety and don’t be discouraged by initial excitement around the bun. Take time to train neutrality around the bunny!
Old shih tzus are great if you don’t mind senior dog problems (accidents, bad knees, sundowning) or grooming regularly

If your bunny enjoys being pet here’s how you can cuddle them: lie down on the couch with a treat, hold the treat over the crook of your other elbow, give treat and pet, bun will be snuggled against your arm without you having to grab or hold them. If they enjoy being pet they’ll lie down with their face resting on your arm and it’ll be super cute trust me.
