Hey everyone, sorry for the bad quality picture but unfortunately this little beauty is super fast and that’s the best we’ve managed to get. So this bun appeared 3/4 weeks before Easter in a really isolated tiny park like area in the middle of an otherwise pretty built up central area, we’ve had no rabbits in this area since the 80s either as we’re pretty much smack bang in the city centre. I’ve contacted the local animal authorities who believe him to be domestic based on the shape of his body and face in this picture and I honestly thought the same because his body/face shape is near identical to our guy. Can anyone confirm if it’s domestic or wild?
The issue I’m facing is people in our area have actually been very aggressive about anyone trying to help the animal in any way, myself and my girlfriend were actually approached and threatened with a bull dog just the other day for throwing a handful of grapes our bun otherwise wasn’t gonna eat near where we know it’s ‘burrow’ is. The fact it looks more like a birds nest than any attempt to burrow underground also makes me think it’s domestic and lacks survival skills. The local authorities are looking into it but we’ve had a massive influx of rabbits being dumped over the past month so they can’t tell me when that will be and I can’t stand the thought of a domestic bun out there and no one is trying to help it.
So yeah, I hope this gorgeous bun isn’t domestic and that he can live a happy life on his own but I really don’t want to take a chance so would love to know so I can continue to feed it until the authorities can get it to safety.
