Concerned about bunny about to lose her sister

Lucy and Parsley are bonded sisters, Lucy has an anxious attachment style. When Parsley went through surgery recently and they required separation, even with supervised visits, Lucy became depressed, hid, wasn't eating as much, was frantic and over-compensating when she was with Parsley during supervised time, and became more anxous than she already is.

Her mood change over two weeks was concerning, and it clued me in to how she might react if Parsley dies first. We are now at a stage where Parsley is likely to die first, possibly soon.

I have read to wait a week or so before introducing a new bunny but I have also read it's an individual situation. I will show Lucy Parsley's body, but after that I was thinking of getting her an older, desexed male friend as soon as possible after Parsley has gone. I'd be appreciative for advice and thoughts from more experienced people. These two bunnies are skittish and I know I cannot make up to Lucy what Parsley is to her. thanks, regards, Miss Metta
