I got a bunny a few months ago, and for the past two months she suddenly developed an interest in chewing everything.
I know rabbits chew, so I had already bought chew toys and wood, offered cardboard, and gave her lots of safe things to chew on.
The problem is she doesn’t want to chew any of that—only as a last resort. The wooden toys are still pretty intact considering how long I’ve had them. Instead of chewing her toys, she chooses to chew cables. First she tested everyone’s phone chargers in my family, then she chewed my sister’s mouse scroll wheel, and then her headset cable (both expensive), on top of chewing books (???).
So I thought about offering “sacrificial items,” basically the same kinds of things she likes to chew but that we don’t use, so it wouldn’t matter—but she doesn’t want those. She specifically wants what she’s not allowed to have. She even chewed the floor of her playpen. She’s chewed my clothes too, and I didn’t even know rabbits could chew clothes.
How do I get her to chew her toys instead of destroying my house? I’ve already tried rubbing fruit on the toys, but it never holds her attention for long. One time she even fought me over my charger cable. If anyone has links to toys that rabbits usually like or tips on what to do, I’d appreciate it. I know she’s an innocent baby, but sometimes it feels like she knows exactly what she’s doing (she always goes on destruction-and-chaos adventures the moment we look away for 10 minutes). It’s like her smooth brain is a little evil—even though her cuteness makes up for it. I just don't want my sister to go crazy over this.(I don’t mind her chewing my stuff, but my sister always has more expensive things, and the bunny usually stays in our room because the living room and another room have way more expensive cables—this rabbit has expensive taste).
