My bun was experiencing a runny eye so we took him to the vet. Fortunately everything came back fine he just had minor eye irritation but no damage to the actual eye. (He suggested it could be fur, dust or hay if he poked himself in the eye). They gave us some antibiotic eye drops for 2 weeks. That being said I notice the area where is eye is tearing up continuous to get matted and hard due to the residue of his eye watering( it’s hard and flakey when I comb it). I use his little comb too brush through it, but ever morning it just gets matted all over again when I check. I’ve used a warm damp rag and that helped a little. I guess I want to know if it would be bad to use a spot of soap cause it’s like I comb through the matted fur but the residue is still there no matter how much I try to wipe it off.
