Rabbit

Rehoming my daughter

Palm Beach area in Florida

It’s with a heavy heart that I begin my search for my baby’s new home. I have a job that takes me out of state, while I’ve been gone my parents have kept her but they will soon be moving and they won’t be able to keep her.

Her name is Kodo we found her one morning in our yard where we’d never previously seen a rabbit and still to this day haven’t seen another, so we assumed she had been dumped and decided to keep her. She’s around 4 yrs old (It was October of 2021 when we found and she was TINY so she couldn’t have been more than a few months old.) she has never met any other rabbits though she did get along with my brothers dog.

She was free roam the majority of her life until last year when we started keeping her in a 5 foot x 6 foot enclosure to make it easier on my family to watch her while I was away. She is litterbox trained however if she’s feeling feisty she will dig all the bedding out for you to clean up.

She has not been spayed, she has been vaccinated and chipped (the chip was required by the vet we usually take her to) She’s okay with handling, she doesn’t like being picked up but once she’s in your arms she’s fine, she loves cuddles and will take your bed hostage if you let her.

She really likes those Apple chew sticks. Giving her something to chew is important or she will find something you love to chew on.

We use Oxbow hay as well as Small pet select. Her diet outside of hay consists of a mix of green leaf and romaine lettuce, bokchoy, wheatgrass, and the occasional mint leaves, spinach, or cilantro for flavor. We also give her a small handful of Oxbow pellets throughout the day. She has eaten many things she should not have (she’s like a goat) keep any beloved shoes, jackets, or purses far away.

For her new home:

I want her to have atleast the equivalent amount of running space she has now rabbits are not cage animals and she definitely requires running space. Ideally it’s big enough for a person to lie down with her (this is ideal for cuddles).

Again, she has never met another rabbit if you do own another bonding may be difficult.

She has only ever lived Indoors and I would like the same for her new home.

I would prefer someone with rabbit experience if not atleast someone who frequents the subreddit and understands proper rabbit care (no drip water bottles, no grid pee pans, no bird sized cages)

The rehoming fee will be $120, she is not a toy or an Easter present.

I will include:

Her enclosure if it is useful to you (it’s one of those metal grid sets so you can build it to fit your space we built hers in a corner).

An unopened 20lbs hay box from small pet select, her current bag of oxbow hay, Oxbow pellets, and the rest of her bedding.

Her wooden hidey house (from small pet select)

The carrier we use to take her to the vet

Her litterbox (if you want it lol unless you wanna use a new one, don’t blame you)

Her water bowl.

A harness I could never convince her to wear (😭)

A fur brush (she has chewed the handle)

It truly breaks my heart to rehome her, and knowing that it’s a traumatic experience for any pet I can only hope she takes it well and do what I can to find her a safe loving home to make the transition a little easier on her. Please DM me if you are interested or have any questions. Consider sharing to anyone who you know that may be interested in the Palm Beach area (or within a 40 minute drive that’s about how far the vet is so she’s done the ride before)
