To start, I'm 16F, and I've got 2 holland lop rabbits. I got my first one Nov of 2023, and the second April of 2024. I've never been sick directly because of them that I'm aware of. I also don't have a hay allergy of any sort. I live in Texas, and the weather has been quite cold and icy, and I've had awful congestion, and I'm coughing up mucous. Today I coughed up blood, and I told my mom, and she is blaming my rabbits being in my room where I sleep. I vacuum regularly to minimize fur, and they get cleaned 2x a week. Now of course, this is a rabbit sub, and Im not asking for medical advice. I just need conformation that this likely isn't my rabbits causing it. It makes zero sense to me how it would be them if I've had them 2 years, and now suddenly they are making me sick? My mom wants to move them downstairs into the sunroom, and they would live in their travel cage (Its metal wire, but I have panels to make it softer on their feet traveling, but definitely not suited for long term living). If this becomes the case, I will attempt to rehome them instead. We also have a foster dog that is wayyyy too excited by the rabbits scent, and the doors my mom is suggesting we use to block the dogs from the sunroom are French push doors, which even our cat has proven he can open, so our 90lb pyr foster would have no issue opening. I included photos of my two "germs" for tax 🙂
