Awe she learned how to roll backwards, smart baby!

  18. How’s the fur on the bottom of bun’s front feet holding up? I know tripods can end up with sore hocks because 3 legs are doing the work of 4; I’d imagine something similar might happen in Juniper’s case?

I was working with Laura, the owner of the Etsy shop, OneTwoHop, to develop a front foot boot for Persy that would give him purchase on slick surfaces, as well as cushion his remaining front foot to prevent pressure sores. (Which is essentially what sore hocks are.) We never finished the collaboration because Persy passed, but we had a decent design on the drawing board and I encouraged her to move forward with the project because Persy wasn’t the only bun in that situation.

If you notice that the fur on the bottom of Juniper’s feet starts to get sparse or she develops pressure sores, or seems like she might be uncomfortable, reach out to Laura.

(My vet wanted Persy euthanized for sore hocks. We developed some special boots for him that fixed the problem and stopped it from reoccurring. Persy lived another 3 years because of Laura’s willingness to customize her design. She’s good people.)
