Not trying to fish for sympathy or anything but just being able to say what happened feels all right so basically this is just a goodbye post to my bunny Gandalf.
She needed a kidney removed to live and I did the surgery. I knew there was a risk of death. She flat lined during it but came back. I thought she'd pull through but last night they called to tell me she died.
I feel awful she died in a scary place not knowing what was happening. I didn't even give her an amazing last meal. I wish I'd given her a banana her favorite treat.
She free roamed my studio apartment and always hopped over at dinner to remind me it was veggie time. It's funny how she was so quiet but now my apartment is 10x quieter with this big empty spot where her things used to be.
If I caught this earlier she'd have had a better chance of recovery but my original vet told me it was a cyst and I opted to just monitor her. She seemed fine for so long. I wish I'd taken her for a second opinion.
Both of my bunnies are gone now. I wish I'd appreciated her more while I had her. I just wish she'd come home.
