This is Tubby. He is 3 months old now (a little boy). I got him when he was about 2 months old.
Right now his diet is:
• 1 tablespoon of pellets in the morning
• One lettuce leaf (not iceberg)
• No lunch
• In the evening: 2 types of leafy greens + one crunchy veggie piece
• Unlimited hay and water
He isn’t free-roam yet. He has a playpen and a cage.
1st Problem: He goes feral for pellets
Whenever I give him his pellets he becomes crazy excited and acts wild. My vet told me not to overfeed pellets because 80% of his diet should be hay, so I’m scared to give more… but the way he reacts makes me think he’s starving or missing something.
I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong.
2nd Problem: White bunny mouth stains
He’s white and grey, and the fur around his mouth is white. When he eats veggies his mouth gets wet and stained. I wipe his mouth and he grooms himself, but the fur still looks a little stained.
Any tips for avoiding or reducing stains? Is this normal for white bunnies?
Any advice from experienced bunny owners would be really appreciated! Thank you so much 🐰💛

They always go crazy for pellets, it’s because pellets are processed food. It’s important to follow the vet’s advice though, and make sure to feed him enough hay for healthy digestion. You don’t want him to get GI stasis, after all. Young rabbits can have touchy tummies.
Super normal for bunnies to go bananas over pellets definitely stick to a schedule for pellets and dont overfeed make sure hay is easily accessible and unlimited which it sounds like it is! I wouldn’t worry too much about staining as bunnies are very good at grooming themselves
