Hi everyone! I just got a 12-week-old female Holland Lop and I’m getting super mixed information about pellet portions for babies.
Some sources say that rabbits under 6–7 months should get unlimited pellets, but other sources (and some vets) say to limit it to about 1/4 cup per day even for young rabbits so they still eat plenty of hay.
Right now she’s eating unlimited timothy hay, and I’ve been giving around 1/4 cup of pellets each day — but she always begs for more, so it’s making me second-guess if I’m underfeeding her.
For a small breed like a Holland Lop at 12 weeks, what do you all recommend?
- Unlimited pellets?
- Or controlled portions (like 1/4 cup a day)?
- If limited, how much would you feed a baby this age/size?
- Also, are alfalfa pellets actually necessary or is timothy okay?
I want to make sure she’s getting enough nutrients without overfeeding her or messing up her gut. Would love to hear what you all do with your young buns!
Thanks!! 🐰💗
Also this is the pellets I feed her: https://a.co/d/5OMuScy
