Hi everyone, I’m new here! This is my 11-week-old female Mini Lop, Pocky. 🍫 Yes like the snack.
She’s a free-roam bun and only sleeps in her pen at bedtime. Pocky is fully potty-trained, doesn’t chew on things she shouldn’t, loves cuddles, and follows us around like a little shadow. We always joke that we got a dog the size of a yarn ball instead. 😅
I’m posting because, as first time bunny parents, we’re sometimes busy (though my partner works from home) and feel bad when Pocky doesn’t get enough attention. So, we’re considering getting her a buddy! I am also well aware they are social creatures. Our main priority is finding a bunny with a similar temperament (wishful thinking, I know!) 🤞🏻, and ensuring the bonding process goes smoothly—based on my research, I know it can take some time.
So here’s a few questions for you experienced bunny parents:
• Recommended breed: Any breeds that tend to have a calm temperament like Pocky?
• Ideal age for a companion: When’s the best time to get her a friend?
• Spaying: Do both Pocky and the new bun need to be spayed beforehand? (Yes I already plan to get her spayed and have it scheduled when she’s 4months old)
• Bonding process: How long does it typically take to bond a pair?
