These boys are brothers and we adopted them about a month ago. They came from the same home and spent time together before we brought them home. They are both neutered!!
Up until now they have been great- the first week we brought them home they had a little spat and the black one seemed to have established dominance. Since then they have gotten along great.
They typically share food (ex: eat from the same salad leaf at the same time) And they often sleep in their house together or sleep side by side.
Yesterday they started displaying these concerning behaviors. The white one who had previously been the more submissive one has started following the other around the pen and attempting to mount him. The black one will then run away. Occasionally the black one will nip at him in defense but not bite, more so just a little “get away from me” thing.
It started the same day my finance came back home after being gone for a week. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
They have been making these noises NONSTOP since yesterday to the point where i haven’t gotten any sleep in two days because im awake watching them and intervening with the arguments.
It’s the weirdest thing- even now they are sitting next to eachother chewing on their sticks, but sure enough within 5 minutes they will be back to this behavior.
Please let me know if you have any advice for our little guys! We’ve made so much progress bonding with them this past month and it’s very stressful to see this happening as a first time bunny owner.
