I know this sub is not a replacement for medical advice and have reached out to multiple vets but no success with finding any within a multiple hour radius who see bunnies and could today and she does have an appointment set with her usual vet Tuesday. I am asking if anyone has seen this and maybe knows what is going on and how I can help keep my bunny comfortable.
Once this past Tuesday and a few times today, I have noticed my bunny's iris seem to close in over her pupil (both eyes) when she is relaxing. Last Tuesday I was very worried because they seemed to completely cover her pupils but returned to normal almost immediately so I couldn't take a picture. I called her vet and they said to continue monitoring it. I saw it happen to a less severe degree a few times today but was able to get a picture one time before it returned to normal appearance. She is still eating, playing, and being affectionate like usual but I really don't want her to be hurting or sick. Even using google lens with her picture or just generally searching what I am seeing I can't find any results.
Additional background: since I have had her, it has looked almost as if a translucent strip covers the bottom portion of her eye. Her vet, who I do trust with exotics and is considered generally known as the best rabbit vet in the area, said it is likely an expression of albinism since she had a normal pupillary reaction to light but I am now worried it could be an issue related to whatever is happening now.
Thank you to anyone who has read this far and I really hope someone has some insight as to how my baby is feeling
