Rabbit

my new bunny won’t stop eating straw.

hi guys! i’ve had bonnie for over a week now and she’s such a sweetheart. she’s SO crazy and is constantly doing something, i’ve had to block the shed walls from her because she even decided to tuck into them lol. she has plenty of toys and hay to chew on, which she does! but she also eats a lot of straw? she poops a lot and she has no issue eating her nuggets either. she doesn’t seem like she has any teeth issues but i don’t want to take her for a health check too soon and scare her because she’s settling in well and is only just letting me pet her head on her terms. i’m just wondering if this is normal and okay? i was originally going to take her after two weeks of getting her but ive come to the conclusion it’ll be more like two months because she’s a pretty anxious bun and she’s already been through a lot of change and new things (she came from a home with children/babies). because it’s getting colder again ive put straw down on the shed floor and some blankets ontop in corners so it traps heat better so i don’t want to have to take it away from her. i’ve had quite a few bunnies in my life and none have ever ate straw like she’s doing so it’s completely new to me. she’s supposedly 1.5years and is being pretty destructive. i did read that it can be because of how she’s moved homes and it can take a few weeks to calm down, so maybe eating the straw is also like a stress thing? researching about it is giving me mixed answers so i thought i’d try here 🙂
