spinny thing in front of floofy bun gives me anxiety. ๐

I have TWO and ohhh boyyyy do they get fur everyyywherre. I don’t spin their fur though – every now and then I get the scissors out and just carefully cut chunks off because it just gets to be TOO MUCH. Right now they are growing their winter coats in and they look very fat ๐

Angoras. They kind of feel very different to other rabbits to me, and there’s no comparison in terms of the work! The coat is more challenging than can be described. My current one is a dwarf angora, previously had a German angora, both needing clipping – this is a French angora, a ‘pluck’ rabbit, so you can do this.

My first thought was….I hope the bunny doesn’t move

Mine aren’t of the super fluffy variety but I’m saving their shedded fur to drop spin anyhow.
Eventually I’ll make some little plushies.

Oh man do I want a rabbit scarf made like this.

I saw a lady do this with her fluffy DOG. For some reason, rabbit hair sweaters seem much more normal to me than dog fur sweaters! She swore they were great sweaters, but I wonder if they smelled like wet dog if you got caught in the rain!

My angora bunny โkazooโ looks like an old English sheepdog. He is so sweet.

Uh, thats inhumane, painful, inefficient, dangerous, cheap have their fur sheared and that product prepared before it is put through the spindle machine, and your effectively pulling rabbit hair, much shorter, rabbit hair, out by the root, as far as I can tell, need i continue?
Maybe I’m wrong, but still
Disturbing imagery, maybe it is super soft, and your doing it right, but I can’t tell properly.

I can’t really see it — how is she doing that? Like this is probably a stupid question lol but how is the rabbit’s fur getting from being in loose clumps on his back to being all tightly wound in the yarn?

Guys Please boycott Angora Fur unless it was collected in such a kind way. In China they collect angora fur by brutally plucking the rabbit. I’ve never heard a rabbit sceam in pain till I saw that happen 15y ago. I remember H&M used angora and many other brands. Now they use more polyester but be mindful <3

Angora wool is actually considered to often be TOO warm, and is commonly blended with other fibres bc of it ๐

I always have an uncontrollable urge to pet these

I actually got to do this as part of a shearing-dyeing-spinning-weaving course when I was a teenager, long before I ever had my own rabbits. It was so magical. The rabbit was placed on a towel on my lap and was completely relaxed. Just as in this video, its loose fur was fed slowly into the spinning wheel as it got a massage. Such a delightful experience. You work the spinning wheel quite slowly as you gather and feed in the fur. After that, I always wanted to have angoras, until I looked into what it actually requires. **Do not get them** unless you’re well-prepared and committed to a decade+ of intensive fur maintenance.

Do they get real hot with all that fur?
