I have two bunnies, black bun is Belle and she's 4 years old. Grey bun is Bambi and he's 2. Both were neutered when they hit sexual maturity. They are both starting to be extremely sweet and affectionate with them now, both giving each other kisses through their enclosure bars, which is a big step for Belle since she used to be a bit growly and feisty sometimes if Bambi approached her space and we never expected her to return the kisses.
We'd love to bond them but at the same time, I'm so nervous about the whole process. 😬 I really don't want to do something wrong and set back their progress or cause Bambi to get hurt if Belle snaps at him. They're sweethearts through enclosure bars but they've never had a face to face meeting before. We don't have a bathtub and the bathroom itself is tiny, so I'd have to do the neutral territory in the kitchen. How big of an area should we give them? And how long for an initial meeting? How would you guys approach the bonding considering the level of affection they're at with each other now? They both have their own litter tray each in their separate enclosures and then a communal litter box that they'll use during play times. They're both pretty happy using it after the other has been out, so they're ok with each other's scent there. I don't clean it between their uses.
Thank you for any help for a nervous first timer taking on the complex world of bonding 💜
