As the title states, I’d love to get ideas to improve enrichment activities for our foster rabbits or advice on free roam. We’re on our third foster, and she’s much more social and active than our previous ones. We keep her in an xpen in the living room where she receives plenty of attention. When we’re working from home or after 4 pm, we let her free roam. However, at night we have to put her back in her xpen because she’s very destructive. At night she jumps out of her enclosure and causes trouble (she even made a hole in the couch).
We would love for her to have free roam all the time, but we’re worried about her chewing and digging habits. For now she's only free roam under supervision. When we put her away for the night she's chewing on her cage excessively, and honestly, it makes me feel HORRIBLE! She has many toys and items to chew on, like toilet paper rolls stuffed with hay and treats, a forage mat, palm leaf bowls, and hay cubes.
We’d really appreciate the community’s advice on whether there are ways to make her less destructive if she’s given free roam. She seems genuinely happy lying wherever she pleases, and we want to find a way to enrich her environment while keeping her safe and happy.
Here are some photos of our little troublemaker!
