My mini lop rabbit is very ill. He has a chronic long term abscess In his sinus that completely blocked one nostril..it's now so bad it's pressing on his good nostril.
We have another surgery to open it up, clean it and put antibiotic beads but that's 10 days away, I'm not sure he can wait. The last surgery was similar but it was held open open for 6 weeks of flushing
He's got dental disease and has had so many surgeries in the past but recently this abscess is screw him up..
I really really don't want to put him down because he's still trying, he eats, poops, and loves running around, he's exploring and still happy. He still wants to live.
At the same time, I'm concerned he will sufficate or choke if the only working nostril gets blocked ( is already noisy which shows partial blockage)
What do I do, I know euthanasia is the outcome eventually, but if I can I want to give him more time.
Any opinions or experience with chronic nasal abscess?
