For the last couple weeks my bunnies have been acting strange. They have been mostly hiding, coming out to eat very quickly and sometimes not even finishing their pellets or veggies(unusual for them as they normally gobble their pellets greedily). They did not seem to be injured or sick, just that they seemed to have changed personalities into bring reclusive and thumping loudly and seemingly randomly…
I decided to give them time and hope they would return back to their usual playful and chilled selves…
Anyway, 2 days ago I cleaned behind their pen area, where there is a very narrow gap between the wall, sweeping up hay, fur and other bits when something black and about the length of my finger, darted away (and scared the cr4p out of me)!
Managed to trap it and see that it was this cute little gecko!
After removing the little creature, the change was almost immediate, and my bunnies became their usual relaxed and happy selves again. So then it all became clear to me that they had been stressed and scared of this little gecko for the last couple weeks!
That made me love the little buns even more that they were so scared this this tiny creature. If your bunnies keep hiding and acting reclusive, I'd recommend to check their pen for unwelcome visitors!
