Rabbit

12-hour travel day/move advice?

Hello! I’ve finally acquired a Sleepypod pet bed for one of my two rabbits to travel in (not bonded). We are planning a 12 hour move next summer and the current standard carriers are plastic- they will shatter in a car accident, so I’m not comfortable with them for long term. Hoping to source a second carrier for my second rabbit before we move!

My question(s); has anyone road tripped/moved their rabbit(s) in one of these carriers? I will be putting a pee pad on the bottom of the carrier and zipping the soft fleece over it- removing the foamy insert to give a bit more room- and then putting plenty of hay. I’m just not sure what to do about water. Just offer wet veggies? For our pit stops, do I pack a larger pen to allow some stretch time, or do we simply power through? I will have extra fans on in the car to keep the pets cool, not worried about that. I do believe they will feel safe and comfortable in the carrier due to its design.

not interested in hearing they will chew through it. this is a crash tested carrier that I have determined is the SAFEST way for my rabbits to travel, especially for a 12 hour drive. If I put them in a larger plastic carrier such as a Ruffland, his small body will be thrown around in an accident and he will be hurt. The stress of travel typically prevents my rabbits from chewing. There will be plenty of hay for when they do decide to chew
