What did they say? Why was this a problem? It may have been can auto-thing, like a word you put in.

This shows that bunnies don’t want to be penned up with other unspayed bunnies, and it gives them stress. They want their own apartment, or to live with their human family as a spayed free roamer.

Yeah, a lot of rabbit people are high key judgemental, condescending, smug arseholes that just love bullying anyone who goes against their very narrow, strict criteria for rabbit care (of course genuine cases of abuse/neglect should be corrected, but any little deviation is pounced upon to tear apart).
I left a Facebook group recently because they rabbits being outside at all, not even under close supervision. Rabbits. You know, the animal that famously lives outside underground in burrows, with terrible things such as fresh air and grass and nature /s

I would say that, while something may be stressful it doesn’t mean it’s bad, and while a bunny may feel more stress with another rabbit they most definitely also feel more joy as life is less boring.
Lonely_Devil87
Maybe you got banned, because one of the research is saying that single bunnies could be happy and less stressed, than a forced bonded pair?
What I’ve read about their advice, is that bunnies always need a partner.
You are expecting reddit mods to listen to reason? On the wrong site my friend

What was the point of the post? I’m not sure what you are getting at. Are you advocating for rabbits to not be kept in pairs?

I believe they have pretty strict rules about specific information being shared. There are a lot of “trigger” topics when it comes to rabbits and they have some users over there who read misinformation and start to spread it themselves to serve a point they want to make rather than researching it first.
The topics also just cause huge emotional outbursts within the community so trying to discuss them doesn’t really help, rather it just causes chaos.
Random examples: Keeping rabbits outdoors, Rabbits and stress related to other species of pets, whether rabbits should be bonded or kept in isolation.
These are all subjects that we probably agree are commonly understood (Research is pretty available out there related to all these subjects.)
Obviously keeping a rabbit outdoors has risks associated with it, but it can enrich their lives if done correctly. With consideration to threats like natural predators and parasites like ring worm your rabbit CAN go outside. Is it an unnecessary risk? Yeah it kinda is considering they can be happy inside but we take risks with ALL animals we take in, medicine/health is just affordable for non-exotics so its less of a consideration.
Stress related to other animals can be conditioned out of a rabbit through training of both animals just like a rabbit can be taught to like a human without always being stressed. It is perfectly safe to own a rabbit with a cat for example if said cat is PROPERLY TRAINED and not a risk to other animals. This is possible to achieve but most cat owners do not train their cats so to share this online with stranger could potentially be a danger to rabbits out there with more clueless owners. (And a lot of these precautions are just about fighting off more impressionable individuals from making mistakes, because they would.)
Rabbits are social animals like us and they don’t just want attention they require it. Anyone who says a rabbit would rather not have a bonded mate doesn’t understand their dynamic. SOME rabbits are more territoriality/instinctive and these rabbits will fight more and create problems in small spaces with other rabbits. They still need the bond to be happy and other rabbits, they just need to undergo conditioning due to their dominant nature, in the wild they NEED this to survive. With humans owners we have to condition them to lose these traits. Very much a case of instincts being too in tact, these behaviors can be fixed with time.
The other side of this, if 2 rabbits don’t get along they are also a danger to eachother so a rabbit that pushes others away in the hands of an “average” owner is likely to just cause injury rather than ending up properly conditioned.
Anyway all the above to me sounds reasonable but there’s still two sides to it all because the “AVERAGE” pet owner does not properly care for their pets and if you said the above things like “A properly trained cat can be kept safely with a rabbit” then a clueless rabbit/cat owner might think their cat is more trained/well behaved than it is and that could lead to a rabbit getting hurt for no good reason at all.
I think this is actually why they’re so careful about allowing people to discuss these subjects. There are clueless people out there using reddit and with the power to discuss controversial(In the matter of the public eye)opinions these clueless people can become misinformed due to their own lack of understanding. You can explain everything right to someone and if they just didn’t get it they will fill in the blanks with what makes sense to them.
Anyway I wonder if your ban is because this information ties into one of these controversial subjects that they’d rather not have discussed? I’m not sure what your post is related too or anything, just offering my best guess. I know they have some trigger topics like some mentioned above that you gotta be careful with backing.

Perhaps it was because it looks like one of your sources was specific to breeding? Thatâs a big no-no over there. They donât allow posts dealing with breeding rabbits which I think is a good thing. Perhaps they took it too far in your case, but usually I think you have to do it more than once to actually get banned.
George_Mallory
Why were you posting links to studies about rabbits living in groups? Whatâs the context, here? What were you trying to say?
I donât think r/Rabbits is perfectâit has major echo chamber problemsâbut they donât go banning people for posting facts. They ban people for inferring things from facts that are not correct and claiming *those* things to be facts as well.
So I ask again, why did you post these particular studies? It looks like you are trying to prove (or at least sow the seeds of doubt) that single rabbits are happier than bonded rabbits. This is misinformation. Iâve had single rabbits that I have bonded and they were much happier after being bonded.
I think that you are, at the very least, not a reliable narrator in this story and you might be a troll, getting banned on purpose for saying something related to these links but not in the way you are portraying, and then coming into this sub and saying âLook! See? r/Rabbits is so unfair!â
CaramelNo3420
I think they don’t want the obvious meat rabbit vs pet rabbit care differences debate when that’s the obvious source of the debate. Like yeah if they’re not neutered they are group territorial etc etc.
Karla_Darktiger
What was the context of this?
It looks like you’re promoting owning just one rabbit instead of two (just want to put here that I’m not saying every rabbit should have a bonded partner). It could be that you were spreading misinformation, and the mods banned you because it can be harmful. We can’t see all of your comments, I tried looking on your profile for them – but it looks like you’ve replied to a lot of people about rabbit bonding not being a good thing.

R/rabbits is extremely strict. I am new to having a bun and all my posts were removed for simple questions. I posted here and have had no issues.

Yeah people over there be toxic like that. They don’t accept anything other than what they believe and are extremely US-Centric. I got a ban warning for saying that in my country everyone advises against spaying females because too many of them die during it (I also lost one this way). Both other commenters and the mods were using American statistics and what American vets say as if it had anything to do with me.

I keep seeing posts on there of domestic rabbits roaming outside unprotected, or being picked up and held wrong, just basic stuff that is known to be dangerous and I feel weird being the only one like âhey this isnât safeâ
that being said I only have one rabbit and a cat and we have yet to properly allow them any interaction so I donât know a lot about bonding. My one rabbit lives in my room and gets daily interaction so he is not lonely but Iâm not sure if this is a hard and fast rule or a situational problem.

It seems like you’re trying to suggest that rabbits shouldn’t be kept in bonded pairs or groups, but citing studies that appear to be exclusively about intact rabbits being forced together in small cages in a production type environment where they can’t get away from one another.
Those studies are completely inapplicable to spayed/neutered pairs selected for compatibility and kept in a household as free roaming or partially free roaming, with plenty of space to get away from the other rabbit when needed.
r/rabbits prohibits promoting substandard *pet* rabbit care, which is what it appears that you were attempting to do.
