This morning I noticed a pretty bad smell coming from my rabbits’ enclosure. Both of my bunnies are spayed/neutered, and I had just cleaned their space yesterday, so I went looking for the source. When I brought out their veggies, my girl came out and I caught a strong odor. Yesterday morning I saw some poop stuck to her butt, but I wasn’t able to clean it off since I’ve only had them for about a week and they really hate being handled. Later in the day it was gone, so I didn’t worry too much. This morning, though, I found a fairly large soft poop inside their hide, along with some stains on the blanket. They’re otherwise eating really well, especially hay — I recently switched them to first cut timothy hay from Small Pet Select and they love it.
What does the smell mean? Should I take them to the vet?
