Advice

Hello,

Together with my partner we have been rabbit parents for up to a week now. We got a male and a female, 8 weeks old.

They are dwarfrabbits/dutch. They are not from the same litter but were together since we got them at the store at 7 weeks old. (They came from a breeder that does shows)

I have done a lot of reading already but I would like to have some advice from the professionals.

The male has been showing ‘frustrations’ and has tried being on top of the female a few times. Yesterday this resulted into a fight and we have now separated them. We dont want either to get hurt in the proces or start to hate each other. We would like them to bond, but they are too young to be helped yet. (They will be helped when they are ready for it)

Currently we switch them between the cage and pen so both can get exercise. We ordered extension for the pen so they both have space until they can get fixed.

This Friday we will chip and vaccinate both of them, and I might ask there if need be.

Is what we are doing okay? Should we change our plans? I feel like we are separating them too soon since they should be fine until 12 weeks.

Any advice is welcome❤️
