I lock my buns up in their hutch at night to keep them safe. They have crafted a fine hole, but I have to go in the evening when they are out and about being all crepuscular and stuff to cover it so they don’t go in and I can’t get them out to lock them up.
Each morning they run to the hole to ensure it is still there but I forgot to uncover it before I let them out this morning lol.
They had started what I believe was a back door for the first hole (looked like it was being dug in that direction), and my husband stepped over it and it caved in. No one was in it at the time and the hole was in a more weeded area. Any time they try to dig it out again I collapse it (in the dark and while they’re locked up so they can’t see me terrorizing their village).
As y’all can see I live somewhere with sandy soil and I’m curious on everyone’s opinion about if I should collapse this hole. I’m leaning toward no because I’ve not pulled the weeds around this hole, they like to stay in there when it is hot (I’m in Florida), and they are very attached to that hole.
We have buried chicken wire about 2 feet down on the perimeter of the enclosure. I’m also wondering if we should bury it much deeper on the side the hole is. What do y’all think?
Also, just look at the little butt wiggle when Lola Bun backs out of the hole. Not related to the hole issue but BUTT WIGGLE.
