Kawaii Felting: How to Needle Felt a Bunny Rabbit | Needle Felting for Beginners

In this video, I will show you how to make a cute bunny or rabbit out of felting wool, using needle felting. This cute DIY project is great needle felting tutorial for beginners.

This baby bunny needle felting tutorial is the fourth tutorial in my kawaii baby animals series! I posted a video earlier on making felt balls using a wet felting technique with the Hamanaka Futte Futte kit (link below), and I created this series to show you different things you can make with the Futte Futte felt balls. (Futte Futte means “shake shake” in Japanese).

This bunny was one of the animals featured in the Futte Futte book I purchased by Hamanaka, so I can’t take credit for the concept 🙂 It is a great easy tutorial for beginner needle felters. It is relatively straightforward and simple to make.

If you don’t have the Hamanaka Futte Futte kit, you can also make these felt balls using regular needle felting and use that for the base. If you are new to needle felting and need a tutorial for making a round ball, check out my love bug needle felting tutorial, linked below. It should take anywhere from 7-15 minutes to make a round ball, depending on how firm you want to make it. Sometimes I get questions about how firm needle felted pieces need to be, but it is really a matter of personal preference. I like my pieces to be on the firmer side so that they are more sturdy when my toddler handles them, but it’s ok for the pieces to be less firm than what I show in the video.
