So about 6 to 7 months ago we adopted from the shelter this beautiful lionmane named Joan. She is pleasant to look at and such, but that’s about all we can do with her.
She was abandoned in the coldest part of winter and we have been taking care of her. She doesn’t like being picked up like most rabbits but we can’t groom her, we can barely pet her and she doesn’t like to be near us unless she can hide under our table or bed.
She is treat motivated sometimes but sometimes she’ll just run away from the parsley we give her. She grunts and charges the cat if she gets to near and the cat is playful but doesn’t interact with the bunny in any vicious manner.
We tried to get another bunny to bond so she wouldn’t be alone while me and my partner go to work but she grew so hostile that she bit my partner leaving a permanent nasty scar.
We where hoping for a cuddly bunny or at least one that might become friendly to us, but she is still incredibly avoidant and hostile if she is touched more that she expects. It feels incredibly selfish to want to re-home her after all she’s been through, but we’re not sure what to do with this bunny.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Also we don’t have the other bunny anymore, we don’t want to over stress her and he was too young to be properly bonded.
