Here is Mr. SoyBun! He came to live with us a couple weeks ago… and he is doing fantastic.
He lived outside in the heat by himself in a cage. He was lonely and rarely got fresh veggies.
I posted looking for help and advice because I have cats and dogs.
A very unhelpful user (now blocked) first thing told me I should not have a hutch, and my environment is not suitable for a rabbit because of my other animals.
Would like to give a shout out to all the other cheerleaders that gave me great advice. Mr SoyBun LOVES supervised time with all the cats. My Shitzu is obsessed with bunny and wants to play with him…. maybe that will happen one day and maybe it won’t but Mr. SoyBun has a whole 10 feet by 8 feet pen to run and play and social time with me and the cats if that never happens. He binkies all the time, and runs to me every morning for lettuce treats. His hutch? He loves it. It’s open 16 hours a day now and only closed when I can’t monitor him with the cats. Guess where he hangs out when he is sleeping in the day? His hutch. He gets Oat hay (hates timothy hay) for the first time… and he loves it. He is THRIVING!
Moral of the story: Maybe you can’t give a rescue bunny 100% best life someone else can. But if you can give them a great life and love and get them out of a bad situation and you commit to doing the best by your bunny friend…. don’t let the haters stop you ❤️
