Conflicting advice from Vet? – help😭

So – my sweet little Winx (8 month old female) got spayed today at an exotic vet in Toronto I have been using for years and they’ve always been great. However; when the vet called me today to let me know she made out of her surgery okay he said she was “spirited”. He asked if I ever hold her – I told him I try not to because she doesn’t like it, and I’ve been bonding with her on her level (the floor) trying to build a trusting relationship, and avoid handling her unless for an emergency due to that, and that is the advice I’ve been finding when researching bonding. He then told me that that is incorrect and I should be forcing her to be held and getting her used to it and I need to show her “who’s boss”. This just feels like the opposite of everything I’ve read and now I’m really confused and feel like I’ve been doing everything wrong. Does anyone have some insight or advice? 😔
