Our two spayed females were bonded about 9 months ago and are best friends. Our younger one, Mochi, ~asserted her dominance~ over Maple during the bonding process and they have been inseparable ever since. Maple has always been the submissive of the two.
However, recently Maple (our older one we have had for 2ish years more) has started humping and nipping Mochi only when my boyfriend is around. Maple and him have a deep bond (she licks his face all the time but doesn’t do so to me), but she has always been very sweet, calm, and go with the flow. I WFH and sit with them all day and they’re fine. The second he walks into the room, Maple humps Mochi aggressively. They also cuddle in the interim when my boyfriend isn’t around/is in the other room.
Does anyone know what this behavior might be? How can we correct it?

Bunny jealousy is so adorable yet so annoying.
I would try to have your bf hold them both at once. Make it awkward for them to actually fight when he does it. They seem to need to be rebonded in a way that they can stop being jerks when he’s there.
Hopefully someone with more bonding experience will chime in, too.

I’d really love to know more about how you bonded your two females. Any specific method or tips that worked best? My two spayed females are side by side in separate enclosures because they are both very dominant, I had to take a prolonged break from bonding.
