Bonding two “aggressive” buns?

Hey. I have to female buns which have lived side by side for their entire lives after we separated them when they were young. They have a wall between their enclosures so they can see and interact with each other. I got both spayed January 11th so about 7 weeks ago. Their hormones have calmed down completely and they’re both much calmer. I was hoping to start bonding about a month after they got spayed but quickly realized at the one month mark that I’d have to wait longer. Now they’re both calm and the hormones stable yet they keep growing through the fence. I’m going to have them free roam my room once they’re bonded but right now they spend 50/50 of the day outside. One of them was at the vet two days ago because of a lump on her back, we got it removed and it wasn’t anything to worry about, just fat. But she has a small wound so no bonding for a week or two before it heals but still. They try to pick fights through the fence and once one of them somehow got into the others pen, that went just as well as you’d think. She violently protected her territory and they ended up in a fight, luckily I heard them and got them separated quickly. No one got hurt except for a few cuts on my arm but nothing serious.

It feels like we’re just going in circles and they have zero intention on bonding. I’m wondering if maybe they aren’t compatible, both are pretty dominant and maybe that makes it hard for them to get along. Is there a point where I should accept they won’t bond or is it just a matter of time? This is my first time bonding buns and it feels like I’m not doing something right? I’ve tried switching their enclosure so they get used to sharing space but I feel it just ended up doing nothing and the fighting continues.
