Why is my bunny making grunting noises while resting? I’ve had him for years and he has never done this before

Idk my bun make that noise to tell me she is angry but your bun bun doesn’t seem angry?

Seems like snoring. If it gets worse it could indicate a problem, but if it stays the same volume and only while resting it should be fine.

  3. Weird bunny noises means either bliss or impending death in my experience. Fortunately, mostly bliss

Snoring? Maybe as he is getting older he is snoring more. I would watch fir any other changes in case he is pain, but I’m guessing he’s fine, just a noisy sleeper!

I think he might me dreaming ☺️

My Holland lop started making more of those noises over the past year. He is 8 now and my vet said that more noises like that are normal as they age and their tissues soften.

My bunny has done this for years, it’s just snoring!

My deceased lop, Colvin, used to snore quite audibly when he was asleep. I imagine this is a regular occurrence for short snouted rabbit breeds. When he was kept overnight at a vets office, the staff found his snoring quite adorable.

He looks like he’s dreaming, from the little facial twitches and ear movement. My bunnies do that too, except without the sound effects. His little noises are adorable!!!

Do rabbits get sleep apnea? I mean these guys have massive dewlaps and stuff . . . .

  11. My lop is the only one that does this. He snores so loud I can sometimes hear it down the hall now that he’s older.

It could be snoring but also check around his nose often and if you see green or yellowish coloring (not right after eating any greens) then it could be something to get checked out at the vet. I’m a cautious person so I usually recommend vet visits for any new concerning health issues especially when it comes to breathing.

  13. I’m afraid to say that like the human male species your bun has reached middle age and snoring is now on the cards.

Seriously though I hope it really is just a cute dream chirp and all is well.

Sounds like snoring. Since it’s new, I’d consider taking him to the vet with this video to make sure there isn’t something else going on, like a blocked airway.
