I’ve been massaging his tummy in case he’s having digestive issues, but this is the first time in 8 years he has ever seemed not well!

Edit, nit sure if it matters for this but we adopted him un neutered

Looks like it’s his ears, could be infection or ear mites

  3. stephfluff

It could be his ears, but also could be E. Cuniculi. My bun had this he was losing his balance, off his food and stayed close to walls. I hope you find a vet and he is okay ❀

My bun started doing this a couple of years back. He was 9 at the time, and is 11 now. He would fall over when standing, hopping, or grooming. We took him to the vet who found E. Cuniculi. We treated fast enough, and he fully recovered. Please take Klaus to the vet.

Could someone please advise best thing to do if no local vets are open? It’s Sunday and I’ve got Β£300 to my name until Friday, I would absolutely go into debt for him if I even had that option

    Edit:spelling

  6. Vet right now! He has either an inner ear infection or EC (e. cuniculi), and the damage to the nervous system is sometimes not reversible, it is also deadly when not treated, so he needs an exotic vet and meds right now. I’m currently treating mine for EC, I was broke, I asked my parents and an ex to loan me the money, took a taxi to get there.

def bring him to the vet, this happened to my rabbit and she had e.cuniculi. it might not be serious but its better to be safe then sorry

  10. AmandaSndaSiews

Could be nystagmus or e.cumin You def vet visit as soon as you can

  11. Classic-End-5505

Yes. Go to vet. My bunny had an ear infection once. A few drops of whatever they prescribed cleared it up.

  12. Emily_theNotSoGreat

My rabbit all of a sudden got like that and it turned out he had e.cuniculi so I would recommend straight to the vet

Yes vet! Or if they’re all closed atm, at least if you have a vet you trust, call them and ask what to do until you can go? They might have advice if they see the video.

Update: I payed Β£24 and used “videovetsnow” they were very helpful, she took a look at him via video call and I positioned him as she asked to check certain things. She was pretty sure that it was E.cuniculi due to his other symptoms and possibly stasis due to the E.cuniculi. because he’s still eating, drinking and pooing even though they’re tint she said it’s not an “emergency” so I can keep an eye on his eating and toilet routine and as long as nothing changes overnight to take her to my usual vet tomorrow morning. I will be following this advice and keeping a close eye on him, thank you all very much for your help!!

  15. Most common cases are either inner ear infection or e. cuniculi parasite – both cause issues with bun’s nervous system.Make sure you get to your vet asap, in both cases the quicker you start treating, the better. If the ear looks clean, please make sure you get IgG and IgM blood test to confirm it’s e.cuniculi asap. Nothing worse than a false diagnosis of cuniculosis :/ My bun went through 3 weeks of panacur treatment with progressing symptoms and we had to perform a very risky surgery when we discovered it was actually inner ear infection progressing. Said goodbyes many times, but fortunately she’s still fighting.

Probably not answering your question but watch out with the wires tho (?)

  17. FerretBizness

I will start by saying I don’t own a bunny but I had them when I was a kid. Never a floppy eared one tho. Point being my knowledge on this matter should be take with a grain of salt. The way he shakes his head and tilts it to his left side at end of video makes me think a possible ear infection? It reminds me of my dogs body language when he gets one. He’s never been off balance tho. I would think floppy ear rabbits are more likely to get them then rabbits with upright ears. Also, I own ferrets. And when they get older some get problems with their blood sugar. Not sure if this happens with rabbits but maybe he has low blood sugar? If so it is dangerous and could lead him into a coma and even worse. If he is more coordinated after he eats this could be a sign of it. Wish him the best of luck.

  18. He may have an ear infection. Sending prayers. πŸ™πŸ»

I’m no vet, but I’d dare say it’s what is called vestibular disease.

It’s basically vertigo in rabbits.. The head tilt in your vid kinda confirms it.

Unfortunately, it’s quite common.. But with the right treatment, your bunyip will be binkying and doing zoomies like their natural self again! 🩷🩡

Oh no!! Poor sweet bun. Always on a bloody weekend too!! Or late evening, every bloody time!! It could be an ear infection, which can easily be treated. I hope it’s not e cuniculi, that’s horrible stuff. Please keep us posted. πŸ™πŸ«‚πŸ‡
