Advice!

Hi! Looking for some advice. My 2 year old bunny Toasty started acting strange two weeks ago. Hiding a bit and not eating pellets. He’s eating hay, treats, veggies and drinking water. Just doesn’t want to eat pellets. His behaviour started to change, he’s usually very nosy and cuddly and he started to just keep to himself. He then started very slightly toppling over when he would jump into his litter box and bopping his head back and forth like he’s looking for something. I took him to the vet and first we treated for GI stasis. No improvement on his behaviour, so his vet said that it is e cucineli. He doesn’t have a head tilt or any major neurological problems. Just a little off balance sometimes and seems sort of lost. I’m not sure how to describe it but he’s just not his normal self. The vet gave me antibiotics (chloramphenicol palmitate) but I’m seeing everyone is treating their buns with e cucineli with panacur. On top of all of this I’m leaving in 3 days to travel for a month and he’s being left with my mom, who will take good care of him! Im just worried and was wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation?

EC can be diagnosed with a blood test. I would suggest doing that first before definitely focusing on that treatment rather than some other sort of issue in the body.

I agree with more targeted testing. As someone else posted recently, it’s not *always* EC. Inner ear infections share a lot of symptoms with EC, and the treatment would be different.
