The good news is Jade isn’t harmful to rabbits and can be used as supplemental treats if they take to it! But Mr. Samwise had taken to really liking the stuff over the past two weeks… The plant was on a stand about a foot off the ground, but both of my rabbits have taken to standing on their back legs to get a little snip at any hanging leaves.

Today I caught Sam standing as high as he could, attempting to literally pull one of the plants out of the dirt.

Needless to say, my plant is now residing on the top of my bookshelf for it’s own safety.

Thank you so much for posting this! I love jade plants and have a bunch of them growing like crazy. Unfortunately, they are toxic to cats, so I keep them in a room the cats aren’t allowed into. I had no idea they’re safe for bunnies! I didn’t even think to look. Well, now when I knock a couple leaves off, I’ll give my bunny a treat, instead of feeling bad about throwing them away instead of propagating them. (Seriously, I have SO many!) Very helpful!

So some good came from the tragedy!

  3. I didn’t even know bunnies can look guilty haha
