(So I can continue raising awareness of bunny welfare)
My bunny Asha gave birth to her first litter of bunnies late on Friday 2nd September 2016. She has been the fantastic mom that I knew she would be! (sorry about the terrible sound quality, my disturbing “ah” noises and jumping out of my skin when I touched a baby I didn’t know was there! You can then hear the babies squeeking for mommy, I may have made them jump too but they are fine soon after. It doesn’t matter how many newborn bunnies I see, until they are 5 or 6 days old they make me jump, they move so erratically lol!).
In the video I am counting the bunnies for the first time. When I first looked at the babies I thought there were three of them hehe. I have to check the babies to make sure they are all thriving with lovely round bellies and there are none that have passed away. I am not risking the babies life, it is actually a myth that mum would harm her babies because I have lookd at them. Especially a myth with domestic animals. My scent is not a scary scent for my bunnies (it probably reminds them of the hoomin who brings the yummy food if nothing else!).
The babies are looking to be blue and white Magpies (like their daddy Flash) and Points (their mommy is a beautiful seal point).
I’m very excited to see these babies hopping around their bunny shed and seeing how their colours progress too as this is the first time Asha and Flash have had a litter. The dalmation/magpie babies all look very funky and interesting!
