hiiii, I posted about my two rabbits before and in the posts I referred to them as siblings because that was I was told.
For little context, my friend has a neighbour who neglects their animals (he actually reported them for neglecting their dog recently) and they tend to get animals for their kids and then the animals just kind of die (rabbits, hamsters). Well they got 2 baby bunnies and put them in a cage outside (shared garden), my friend just kind of took them lol…and they ended up with me. I went to the only pet shop here that sells animals and they told me the rabbits are from there, and that they are 10 week old siblings.
well as they started to grow i really doubt they are? One turned into a full on lionhead and the other one is a short-hair? I get that they could be mixed breeds but can they really look this different?
I guess it doesn't really matter, I just wanted to know if you guys think that they actually could be related 😆
baby photos and now for research

One could have the lionhead mane gene and the other one may not have inherited any. They can still be siblings.
Siblings or not, did you have them sexed? The baby bond will break and they’ll mate if they’re male/female or fight if not, until they have been fixed and healed.
Never take care advice from pet stores, and especially not breeders. Only take advice from a rabbit-savvy vet.
your friend is awesome for that (so are u)
It’s possible they came from the same litter. Our friend runs a rescue and she just took care of a litter of 10 and there was a dutch and a lionhead in there.
Although cautionary tale…we adopted our two brown dutch bunnies with white collars from a rescue and said they were siblings. Then we got their vet records and one bunny was 3 and the other was 1. We later found out how bad that rescue was haha.
