My dog was barking and would try come in so i went out into the yard to get him. Saw him in my raised garden bed barking as i was calling for him. Ran over and heard thtiniest little scream. I yaked my dog out of there, turned on my flashlight and there were 6(maybe more) kits!!!! I freaked out and took my dog inside. I grabed A handful of my 2 rabbit's timothy hay from inside (they wontmind sharing lol) and threw it over all them. I didnt want to touch the dirt or kits and steer the mother off or scare them more.
I am worried about the one i pointed to though. That squeal sounded like my dogs paw could have squished him): They look maybe 10 days old and my dog is 170lbs. With a lot of hay over it i should be able to tell if the mother comes back to feed in the morning. I hope they all stay warm its dropping to freezing again tonight. If i dont notice a disturbance in the hay by night time tomorrow, should i move the hay and check on them? Get kitten molk replacement? Or should i just call a rehabilitation center now?
