Importance of not waiting!

My 2.5 yr old Netherland Dwarf was exhibiting signs of Stasis. Left in morning came home no poops. Didn't eat his greens. Not eating hay. He did actually eat one treat so I left him be. Checked back in an hour, no poop. No food eaten. Grabbed pellets and his shuffle mat. Wouldn't go near it. Instantly knew something was wrong.

I've only had him for a little over a year, but his pattern is so distinct and easy to recognize I knew he was off. Pressing tummy into floor, etc.

I immediately jumped in my car with him and drove to ER vet. I sat there from 10pm and left at 310am. They checked and no blockage. So he sat with me in waiting room all night.

Get him to see the doctor and she said we caught the very early stages of GI Stasis. They did a subcutaneous fluid and then showed me how to Bunrito and Syringe feeds him.

By time that happened the subcutaneous fluids absorbed fast. He even pooped in carrier likely from that treatment.

This morning, he ate his snack. Didn't touch his greens. But started eating hay. I had to give his critical care but he waa devouring banana mash off the tip of it. Hope when I go home he's good to go ! He even pooped a little this morning before I left..

Moral of the story know their routine, know their triggers and happy points. Act FAST. I dont yet know that he is in the clear, but it seems to be trending that way. I believe if it is a quick one its because I caught it so quick and instantly made the move.
