about two or so weeks ago a neighbor of mine had given my mother a rabbit to raise as she couldn't raise it herself, my mother decided to give me the rabbit to take care of since I used to have one as a child, although that was a decade ago in basically a different lifetime, so I'm decently new to all this.
I thought I was doing good, I've had to move around his litterbox & bed a bit but besides that he's been litter trained (and by that I mean he doesn't pee or poo everywhere, which I take as a good sign) and he'll let me occasionally pet him and lets me near him a good bit often, though after the weeks I've had him I've run into two problems which Is why I make this post.
A) due to my mothers unwillingness to listen to me despite my constant telling's of her to NOT do it, she has picked up this bunny a multitude of times to bring him downstairs for my siblings whilst it was actively running from her, I've heard this is a large problem and can hinder the bonding process and the gaining of trust with a new rabbit, and to put in perspective, for the first week he would let me pet him, play with him and feed him hay, but after the repeated instances in which my mother would pick him up, he'd only let me pet him once or twice before avoiding me, which leads into my second problem.
B) whether it feels more comfortable, safe or whatever other reason, the rabbit spends almost all of his time under my bed, coming out on occasion to eat, poop or just chill on his bed for a bit, and whenever I'd even get a few pets in, or approach him in a not-slow way, he'd immediately duck to under my bed.
if anybody could provide me some advice, I'd very much appreciate it.
(P.S don't worry about the bed or litterbox by my induction heater it's broken.)
