Plastic in oxbow hay

Has anyone else noticed a diminishing quality in oxbow hay? Buns have been super picking through it recently and then one of my babies had a day of statis(since recovered) so I decided to pick through the hay and found plastic?!?! Ahhh! Contacting the company with the batch number but just wondering if other bunny parents have had similar issues.

Recovered baby pic for tax.

That’s a piece of baling twine from the hay coming to oxbow in bales. No excuse for it to get through into the hay and a definite hazard for the buns.

This has happened to me frequently with Oxbow hay. I think their quality has always been questionable. I bought a bag last month because my Small Pet Select order was late, and it was all soft, dusty pieces. My rabbits barely touched it.

That’s baling twine. It’s not foreign matter, it’s just off the bales they’re reprocessing into bags.

Ideally they would be using hemp twine, but plastic twine is cheaper

Yes I have found this exact thing in my oxbow hay twice within 6 months. Same plastic same size same colour. The first time I contacted the company and sent photos, they told me it was plastic twine that holds the hay together. They gave me a voucher for another box. The second time it happened I was pretty pissed and I didn’t contact the company, I just stopped buying it. It’s expensive af why am I paying top dollar only to comb through it looking for plastic?
