My bunny has to be the smartest one I’ve owned or fostered (about 10). I need more enrichment ideas or advanced puzzle boxes to entertain her enough so she stops destroying my carpet.
She’s very food motivated so she won’t play unless theres food involved. She is not a fan of any hay I’ve tried and only eats it when she’s in her litter box.
Toys with hay in it like stuffed cardboard or paper bags don’t work
The puzzle boxes pictured are too easy and she gets them in 2 seconds
She has a dig box with paper shredding she will use if theres treats in it. She has a dig pen outside to dig in soil during the summer. I can’t have a dirt dig box inside.
She enjoys destroying cardboard and has a hidey house I change out the cardboard flooring. Cat scratchers don’t interest her- cardboard or the sisal ones.
I’ve bought her sisal balls and all the normal toys and they don’t seem to hold her interest
I feed her pellets in a snuffle mat or treat ball so she has to work for it. I’ve tried the ones where she has to lift a ball or toy – she ends up chewing the top so she can’t get the ball out anymore
I hang her greens on string with clothespins so she has to work for that too.
I take her to Hoppy Hour every now and then. I lay with her on the floor and give her grooming time often.
She is free roam and has her own room with a ramp and shelf she can sit by the window (she loves the sun and fresh air) and can move about the house freely (which is bunny proofed)
I’ve searched the internet relentlessly for more toys and enrichment ideas from zero dollars to more expensive stuff.
What has worked to enrich your rabbit long-term?
