My rabbit Teemo is atleast 9 1/2 years old. She recently had a "near-death experience" (severe stasis) and is under veterinary care. This, I think, could have started the dominos.
A couple weeks of hand-feeding, meds, and lots of kisses had her back to her normal self. She is eating significantly less hay, so I still have her on critical care, pain meds, and gut movers. Her personality is back, her pellet/veggie appetite is still great! However, she's lost her litter box training. She still goes in to it, but once or twice a day. Now I am seeing her ceceotropes for the first time since I've owned her.
I'm really concerned, however her vet believes this the best we could have hoped for as she was just so sick. She is an incredible vet and quite literally saved Teemo's life so I don't trust her. She is the one who suggested dementia, as Teemo's mobility rules out arthritis.
Has anyone with a senior bun experienced dementia with them? She is my first bunny, and she's been with me through so much. I am open to any suggestions of comfort or accessibility measures I can take for her!
